Planting and Growing Tips:
Raised for its beautiful red seedheads and pale green leaves, this quinoa cousin is easy to grow when temperatures are warm. Sow indoors under lights 8- to 10-weeks before the last frost of spring or direct sow outdoors in areas with full sun and moist — not wet — well drained soil. Space 12- to 24-inches apart and mulch well to prevent weeds and conserve moisture. After a killing frost, remove plants and add to the compost pile.
Note: Long-lasting flowers keep their color for 6- to 8-weeks and are extremely attractive to bees, butterflies and other important pollinators.
