Beautiful, deep orange flesh that is very sweet and has an almost tropical flavor! Orangeglo Watermelon produces high yields on strong vines and is resistant to wilt and insects. These will sell at roadside stands and markets. (85 days)
Sow seed 1/2 inch deep outdoors after last frost and soil is warm. Soil should be rich and well amended with compost or manure. Plant 12-inches apart, in rows 6-feet apart. Can also be started indoors, but no more than 2 to 3 weeks prior to transplant date. Do NOT let watermelon seedlings become root-bound.
Watermelon is ripe when the light patch on the underside has changed to pale yellow, and the tendril immediately opposite the stem from the fruit is withered.
