A showy splash of color! Apple Blossom Larkspur (Delphinium ajacis) yields lovely pink to almost white blossoms on beautiful 12- to 24-inch tall flower spikes. Impressive plants with bright-green feathery leaves have long been a favorite when planted in mixed beds, along fences or at the back of borders. (Perennial) Learn How to Grow Delphinium here.
Each packet contains approximately 300 seeds.
Planting and Growing Tips:
Native to England, this cottage garden favorite can be difficult to grow and requires full sun and moist — not wet — well drained soil to thrive. Direct sow in prepared beds after temperatures have warmed and keep moist. Thin seedlings 12- to 24-inches apart in all directions and provide support if necessary. Pinch off the faded blossoms to extend the flowering season and mulch around plants to prevent weeds, conserve moisture and improve aesthetics.
Note: Germination is greatly improved with a 1- to 2-week cold treatment (see Seed Stratification). Place seeds and slightly damp paper towels in a Ziploc bag and store in the refrigerator crisper prior to planting.
