Organic herbicide for gravel driveway

I have a large gravel area along driveway and around house which grows weeds and grass voraciously I do not want to use commercial herbicides that are environmentally harmful. How do I eliminate/ control grass from growing in the gravel areas around my house and driveway. The house is located in remote mountain area in Idaho with winter snow. Do I use a pre-emergent product, what/when would I apply?

Hello –

There is not a natural pre-emergent herbicide that will work on grasses. However, there are several natural weed killers that will work on undesirable plants. All are non-selective — kills grasses and weeds — and work via dehydration. As a result, they do best when applied on hot sunny days. Results are visible within a couple of hours and are safe for use around people, pets, livestock and wildlife. Here’s a couple of links to some of the best available:
