  • What to do about my lawn?

    Created by Jean Jagodzinski on

I’ve refused to put any chemicals on my lawn for 3 years. I now have the worst looking yard in the neighborhood, with dandelions and creeping charlie all over it. I don’t know where to start. Is there a point where I need to have the whole thing turned under and re done by a professional? I’m afraid I’ve gone too far.

    Hi Jean –

First of all, approximately what percent of your lawn is weeds? Experts generally agree that if you’ve got over 50% weeds, fighting them is fighting a losing battle. In this case it’s probably time to kill it off, either the whole thing or one section at a time, and either all at once or over time. What option you choose will depend on what weeds you’ve got, how much of a hurry you’re in, and a number of other factors. For more information, see the 50% solution on our Organic Lawn Care 101 site.

    Hope it helps!
