  • FIELD CHICKWEED vs. CERASSTIUM ARVENSE

Created by I am sorry, Carole Anne Thompson on

We have 20 acres here in Az. I want to ask a question. Field chickweed, Cerastium arvense is a plant I would like to use. Both as a groundcover etc. I am concerned that it NOT be toxic to children or animals. I have read that Cerastium tomentosum IS toxic. The plant cerastium arvanse can be (evidently) eaten by people and animals. One is toxic and the other is not. If I ordered the one from you that is NOT toxic, there would not be a chance of a mix up, would there be? Thank you kindly, Carole Anne Thompson

    Carole Anne –

I spoke with the seed company about your concerns. Here is their response:

Definitely no chance of a mix up. it would be Cerastium arvense. If you have any other questions let me know!

    Happy Holidays!
