  • How long do Bio Bags last?

    Created by suzanne on

How long can a bio bag protect my canister before it starts to break down. I usually empty mine about every other week, sometimes longer, and sometimes it’s rather messy from bananas and the sort, and I have to wash out the mess in the kitchen sink, and then start with a clean canister. The bags seem to be rather nice, but if they biodegrade rather fast, it would be of no use to me.

The same microorganisms that “eat” the organic materials in your compost also “eat” the BioBag, so we recommend changing thems every 3-4 days, depending on the content and also the bin you are using. Wet, hot scraps will affect the bags integrity quicker.
