A beautiful Oriental heirloom! Shungiku (Leucanthemum coronarium) is an edible chrysanthemum that grows up to 4-feet tall and yields delicious bright-green leaves that are scrumptious in salads and stir-fry. The brilliant orange-yellow flowers are also very tasty! (Annual)

Planting and Harvesting Tips:
Aromatic plants thrive in cool locations with full sun and rich, well-drained soil. Direct sow in place, 1/4-inch deep, from early spring through mid-summer. Keep moist and add a layer of mulch around plants to help conserve moisture loss, improve aesthetis and decrease weeds.
Harvest leaves when plants are 4- to 8-inches tall or gather new growth from older plants. If allowed to mature, plants will produce attractive daisy-like flowers. Pinch off spent blossoms on a regular basis — or use them as cuttings in flower arrangements — to extend the blooming period.
