Is it caused by lack of calcium in soil. Have been following gardener in Arizona that has had success in controling garden pests by using a thick mat of woodchips . The woodchips now at a 2 foot depth give a great area for exosketlitons from critters like june bugs etc and very little bothers his plants. i wonder if this is something missing from plumb tree farming and the like.
