After some quick research…

A 14 hour on 10 off light cycle seemed to fit the needs for both of these plants the best. If you wanted to simulate nature you could match the timer to sunrise and sunset.. depending on latitude summer day length can be anywhere between 14 and 18 hours. Anything over 12 hours should induce flowering for vegetable crops.
