I think that an herb wall is a fantastic idea. I did a quick Google search for “kitchen herb wall” and came up with all kinds of neat ideas. As for light, indoor herbs require long periods of intense light. You will need something more than a standard shop light or fluorescent tube. I recommend either T5 fluorescent lights or LED lights (links below). Both types of light produce little heat and are very energy efficient. Most importantly, they produce the intensity required by herbs to produce the oils that give them their flavor.
