Uvonair UV Ozonators - Instructions for Use
Installation:
• Place the Uvonair Odor Eliminator on a high shelf in the room. Ozone is heavier than air.
• Keep both ends free from obstruction.
• Follow manufacturers' instructions regarding the use of extension cords and timers.
• Use caution to keep all electrical connections dry.
Operation directions:
• The Uvonair model should be selected to suit the room size. If using a larger unit than recommended, use a timer to adjust the operating time accordingly.
• Ozone Test Kits Included.
If testing for ozone:
1. Operate the Uvonair continuously for one (1) hour.
2. If the reading is over .05 PPM (parts per million) install a timer and program the timer to operate for 30 minutes per hour.
3. Retest the level of ozone after 30 minutes of operation and determine an appropriate operating time between the two settings to stay under .05 PPM. Practical experience by the detection of the offensive odors you want to eliminate will also be a guide.
In-duct Ozone System
Installation considerations:
Please read all instructions prior to installation.
1) Uvonair UV80H ozone generator installs into 8 inch (20 cm) ducts to treat the air as it is being exhausted. Duct adapters may be used for installation into other size ducts however installing it in larger ducts may restrict airflow. Our Uvonair CD models are recommended in larger ducts and high odor situations. 2) Uvonair UV80H is ideal for rooms up to 5000 cu. ft. (150 m3)
3) Position the Uvonair generator, where possible, a minimum of 15 ft. (5 m) from the end of the exhaust duct to ensure adequate reaction time with odors.
Electrical requirements:
Install in accordance to local electrical standards.
Provide 110V 60Hz electrical power to the Uvonair UV ozone generator synchronized with the ventilation fan. As a safety feature, power to the Uvonair UV unit should go off when the ventilation exhaust fan is turned off. Uvonair UV is equipped with a 6 ft. (2m) cord with a grounded three-prong plug and a surge protection fuse.
Installation:
1. Attach the supplied support bracket to the top of the unit using the two screws already set in place.
2. Turn off the ventilation fan and ensure the Uvonair unit is not plugged in.
3. For installation into metal duct: a) It will be necessary to remove an approximate 6" (15 cm) section of duct where the unit is to be installed. Consult a ventilation professional for the specific length as this may vary depending on the existing duct setup and its ability to adjust for the insertion of the Uvonair UV generator. b) Support the weight of the unit with duct-hanging wire from the support bracket to a hook or nail on the joists above. Make final adjustment after final installation. c) Insert the unit into the existing ducts up to mounting ridges making it airtight using duct tape or clamps. Optional installation using flex duct: a) Remove a 36" (91 cm) section of duct. b) Cut two 17" (43 cm) pieces of flex 8" (20 cm) diameter duct.
c) Attach to each side of the Uvonair generator and then secure it to the ductwork making it airtight with duct tape or clamps.
Operations:
Uvonair UV80H has two output settings: High (2 bulbs) and Low (1 bulb). Determine the ozone level required by monitoring the exhaust air odor level. This may vary throughout the growing cycle. Recommended for commercial use.
Warning: Ozone, in concentrations above .05 PPM, may be injurious to health. Ozone has a half-life of 30 minutes, therefore it will dissipate and not accumulate. Do not look directly into the light output. Prolonged exposure to U.V. light will cause eye damage.
Bulb Replacement: The only servicing required is periodic replacement of the ultra violet bulbs (#UVA123HO) that are rated for 8000 hours of service.
1. Turn off the ventilation system and Uvonair switches to off.
2. Unplug the power cord before opening the service door.
3. Handle the bulbs with care, allowing time for bulbs to cool. Unclip both ends of the bulbs and direct the open end through the service door. Pull the wires off the bulb connectors.
4. Install the new bulb by connecting the wires in the same order. (2 blacks and 2 whites together, paying particular attention to the 2 connecting white wires lining up with the 2 white wires on the bulb) and re-clip the bulb in place.
5. Only partially close the service door and reconnect the power source. Caution: Wear eye protection against air borne particles since the fan will also be activated.
6. Test the bulbs by clicking one bulb ON and then the other. The amount of light escaping the partially opened service door will confirm their respective operating status without having to look directly at the bulbs.
7. Lock the service door and turn on the desired high or low operating status.
