Making Compost with the Tumbleweed Composter
Put bin close to path or house. It will remind you to turn it!
Place bin in full sun or where there is more sun than shade
Add any organic matter, grass clippings are the best.
Mix 75% lawn clippings with 25% other materials (leaves, vegetable scraps, tea leaves, coffee grounds & other organic material).
The smaller the ingredients the quicker compost is produced. Use your lawn mower to shred garden waste like leaves and cuttings.
Tumble bin every two to three days to aerate contents.
To produce compost in only 4 weeks almost fill bin & tumble regularly.
If you do not have sufficient material to fill initially, just keep adding ingredients & tumbling over a period of time. When full turn regularly for up to 4 weeks.
Your compost is ready when it is dark brown and "earthy". Dig into the garden or spread as mulch on surface.
You may use your mulch before it is fully broken down by spreading it thickly on the surface of your garden. It will continue to break down and will attract worms.
To empty, place a large piece of plastic under bin and empty contents on to it. Drag to where required in garden.
