Lacewing Release Instructions

Lacewing larvae (Chrysoperla rufilabris) feed on a large number of soft-bodied pests, mites and insect eggs. A voracious predator they can consume as many as 60 aphids per hour. Lacewing eggs are shipped in a carrier (rice hulls) which provides separation and a means for distributing the eggs over a larger area. Depending on temperature conditions during shipping lacewing larvae will emerge 1-4 days after arrival. Some may be emerging upon arrival. If it is not convenient to make an immediate release, you can refrigerate the closed container(s) for a day or so. DO NOT FREEZE.

Release lacewing when a few tiny (1/32nd of an inch) grey larvae are seen moving about the rice hulls. After observing the tiny larvae put them out immediately; they are cannibalistic! To release, simply sprinkle the contents of the container over the pest infested area. Release 1,000 lacewing eggs per 1,200 sq. ft. A second release 2 weeks later, may be necessary.

Our Ladybug & Lacewing Food will attract lacewing adults and stimulate them to mate and lay even more eggs in your garden.
