DUTCH MASTER FOLITECH - FAQ

Q: Can you mix Penetrator, Folitech and Max-Fx together?

A: Yes, you can mix all 3 foliar sprays together at full strength with no need to adjust the pH.

Q: Do the foliar sprays need to be Ph adjusted after mixing Folitech, Max-Fx, Reverse and Penetrator?

A: No, Dutch Master foliar sprays are ready to use.

Q: On the back of the Liquid Light, Penetrator, Folitech, Max-Fx, and Reverse bottles it says "For Hydroponic Use Only", these are foliar sprays so is it okay to use with a soilless media program such as with Pro-Mix?

A: All Dutch Master foliar products can be used in any type of growing media as they are, as you rightly point out, foliar sprays! We MUST include that statement for registration purposes.

Q: Can Max-Fx and Folitech be used at the same time? If not how long after Folitech has been used should the Max-Fx be applied?

A: Folitech and Max-Fx can both be sprayed at the same time. However, for the absolute best results possible you should spray both twice per week on alternate days. It should be mentioned, that Penetrator is required to get the best results from these products, as it will deliver the technologies contained inside Max-Fx and Folitech to exactly where they are needed in the plant.

Q: How long are Penetrator and other Dutch Master foliar solutions such as Folitech or Max-Fx viable for once they are combined with water? Can I make a large amount and leave it in a spray bottle or do I have to use it immediately? Will the potency decline significantly over time?

A: Dutch Master foliar sprays, with the exception of Reverse, are viable for up to 1 to 2 weeks once made up into solution. However they must be kept in a cool dark place to retain full viability as heat and light will degrade these solutions very quickly.

Q: When should the foliar solution be applied, does it matter if the lights are on or should they be off?

A: This can be done if you are using Penetrator, generally it is recommended when the lights are on otherwise you have a higher chance of getting mold.

Q: Can I use the foliar sprays during the entire plant cycle?

A: You can safely spray these products on your plants all the way through grow and for the first 4 to 5 weeks of flowering without any mold or fungus problems. After weeks 4 to 5 the plants susceptibility to these problems increases and we don't, as a general rule, recommend spraying after this time.

Q: It says in the flower feed schedule, "spray weeks 1 up to 4 only." Does this mean I spray in week 4 too - or just week 3 and that's it?

A: You use Penetrator in conjunction with Folitech and Max-Fx for the first 4 weeks of flowering only. Experience has shown us that spraying your plants beyond week 4 in flowering can lead to increased incidences of mold or fungus on your plants. Folitech itself is designed for continual use and theoretically you can spray all the way until the end of flowering and we have many experienced customers doing so. However, I would exercise caution if you decide to do this, as you need to ensure your environment is optimized towards preventing humidity related problems and you must be vigilant for the symptoms of early onset mold or fungus problems. This aside the use of Folitech beyond week 4 can lead to some very good results if humidity is kept under check and your strain of plant is not susceptible to mold or fungus attack.

Q: Are the PPM measurements on your nutrient calculator based on the EC 500 or EC 700 scale?

A: Our nutrient calculator values are based on the EC 500 scale which most closely approximates conductivity in a nutrient solution. There are 2 so called "standards" with respect to converting EC to PPM. Each one is based on the type of calibration solution used. The EC 500 conversion uses a calibration solution of Sodium Chloride (NaCl ,) that most meter manufacturers use and the majority experts agree, most closely approximates the conductivity of a hydroponic nutrient solution. The NaCl conversion is approximately 500 x EC (in Millisiemens) hence its nickname of EC 500. The EC 700 scale is used less frequently and mainly in the United States, if at all. The EC 700 scale used to be known as the 442 conversion scale due to the composition of its calibration solution. (40% sodium sulfate, 40% sodium bicarbonate, and 20% sodium chloride). This type of calibration solution is rarely available today as most meter manufacturers use an NaCl calibration solution (EC 500). As Individual nutrient ions have different conductivities, the true PPM of a solution can only be100% determined by a chemical analysis. For the hydroponic enthusiast this PPM conversion (EC 500) will provide you with a good indication as to the strength of your nutrient solution.

Q: Sometimes I find small floating things in my nutrients that look like mould or algae, is the product still OK to use or should I return it to the store?

A: The floating things you can sometimes find in "any" nutrient product, occur from time to time in all manufactured nutrients, from all manufacturers. What you are seeing is some yeast. This yeast is harmless and does not affect the performance of the product and more importantly will not affect the health of your plants, in any way. Yeast spores are present in the air in almost all enclosed areas, like manufacturing centers. Sometimes these yeast spores will slowly grow into small colonies, what people commonly describe as "floaties". All nutrients made by Dutch Master, are manufactured with triple filtered and UV sterilized Reverse Osmosis water together with special additives (used in the food industry) that stop any harmful bacterial growth. We also have an independent laboratory do a plate count (test) for bacteria before bottling, as part of our quality assurance program. Because of this we can safely and confidently say that if, on the rare occasion, you find these "floaties" in your Dutch Master product, it is still perfectly safe to use - both in terms of plant health and product performance.
