What are the application recommendations for compost tea?
We recommend the following application guidelines:
• Compost tea should be applied throughout the growing season every 14 to 30 days. This rotation may be increased to every week during times of plant stress (known disease, environmental stress, etc).
• Allow 7 days after your last application before harvest.
• The microbes in compost tea are sensitive to UV light and should therefore be applied before 10 AM or after 4 PM.
• During precipitation, applications to the soil should be made during light rains only. Foliar applications should be avoided during any type of precipitation.
How long can I store aerobic compost tea?
The beneficial microorganisms in aerobic compost tea thrive with sufficient oxygen. For best results compost tea should be used as soon as possible within a 24 hour period.
How long does it take to make compost tea in Growing Solutions' Systems?
Twenty-four hours is the standard brew time to produce compost tea with high concentrations and diversity of microorganisms.
What is the application rate of compost tea?
We recommend using 5 to 10 gallons of compost tea per acre depending on disease pressure, nutrient deficiencies, and overall plant and soil biological health.
What types of equipment can be used to apply compost tea?
Compost tea is applied with a wide variety of application equipment including standard agricultural sprayers, overhead and drip irrigation, and horticultural injection systems.
