BIOFILTER BOOSTER - FAQ
I just filled my pond with water. When should I start adding BioFilter Booster?
Begin adding BioFilter Booster on the day you add your first fish. The bacteria in BioFilter Booster will begin feeding on fish waste immediately and help establish the biological filter.
Do I still need to test for ammonia and nitrite?
Yes. Whether your pond is brand new or has been running for years, water testing is essential for maintaining fish health. Guessing at water quality is a formula for disaster. Ammonia and nitrite are colorless and odorless and must be monitored with test kits.
I do not have a pond filter with a "biological filter" compartment. Can I use BioFilter Booster?
Yes. In your pond the beneficial bacterial will grown on the sides of the pond, on pebbles, rocks, in sponge prefilters, etc. In this case Biofilter should be poured directly into the pond.
Does BioFilter Booster need to be refrigerated?
No. The bacterial are in a dormant state until added to the pond. BioFilter Booster will not degrade in the bottle, therefore it needs no refrigeration. BioFilter Booster is a "living" product and should not be allowed to freeze and should not be stored above 120° F.
My bottle froze this winter. Is the product still good?
Yes. An accidental freeze will not kill the bacteria. A prolonged deep freeze or a constant freeze-thaw cycle, however, will eventually reduce the number of live bacteria.
Wildlife frequently visit my pond. Can I use BioFilter Booster in my pond?
Yes.
