Beneficial Nematode Release Instructions
Beneficial nematodes (Steinernema feltiae) are microscopic parasites that actively seek out and destroy over 230 different soil-dwelling pests, including fleas, fungus gnats and white grubs. Nematodes are naturally occurring organisms and are not harmful to people, pets, earthworms, plants or the environment.
Beneficial nematodes come premixed with vermiculite which is used as a carrier. They should be released as soon as possible. Do not release during the sunny part of the day, but rather wait until evening. If immediate release is inconvenient, you may refrigerate the nematodes at 38 degrees F. to retain full potency for several months. DO NOT FREEZE.
Apply nematodes anytime grubs and larvae are feeding on plant roots, and when soil temperatures are above 32 degrees F. To apply, simply spread by hand over infested area and water. For boring insects apply as a water suspension when there are visible tunnels. Killing action begins 24 hours after application. One pint beneficial nematodes contains 7 million active units and treats 200-400 sq. ft., 800 feet of row.
