Turn kitchen scraps into compost! This compact Worm Farm uses the power of redworms to recycle organic waste (including pet droppings) into worm castings and compost tea. Each unit consists of two sturdy polypropylene boxes nested inside each other measuring 23" L x 10" H x 15" W.
Composting worms eat and breed in the Tumbleweed's® top box which features a perforated base so that any compost tea can drain through into the bottom box. Worm castings, an excellent soil conditioner, remain in the top box and can be harvested as required.
The bottom box or "catcher box" collects the highly concentrated liquid tea, a by-product of the composting worms. This "liquid gold" can be used as an organic fertilizer by diluting it one part tea to four parts water.
The Tumbleweed Worm Farm may be used indoors or out -- anywhere temperatures are in the 50 to 80° Fahrenheit range. Roughly 1,000 Red Wiggler Worms are all that is required to start (two thousand if you want to be up to full capacity in a hurry). Complete instructions are provided.
