About Laurie Brown, Founder Restore Natural Cleaning Products Laurie Brown is a pioneer. In all of her professional ventures she has found herself at the forefront of new ideas - most of them focused on solutions for a better world. She lobbied for community services for the mentally ill in the mid 70's, she sold microcomputers before IBM even had the PC, and she opened the second environmental store in the U.S. Laurie loves a challenge, especially when she can lead the way.
Her inspiration comes from her family, where starting a business to launch an idea was not out of the ordinary. Born in southern Minnesota to three generations of entrepreneurs, she started her first business in 1988. What she didn't know was that the competition had gotten much tougher since the time that her great grandfathers, grandmother or even her father had started their businesses. As a result, Laurie experienced plenty of challenges and discouraging times. But her perseverance has paid off and now she is leading her most exciting project ever, as President of Restore Products.
Judging by her room as a teenager, Laurie's mom would never have predicted that her daughter would develop a line of cleaning products. But the opportunity to do something new was compelling to Laurie when she saw that Restore Products would be among the first cleaning products on the market to use renewable plant derived, non-toxic ingredients. They were safer for the user and the environment and for seven years straight, Restore Products were the number one selling products at her retail store, Restore the Earth.
From the start, Laurie encouraged customers to re-use their original container by giving them a dollar off every time they refilled. This idea eventually led her to invent the Restore Refill Station, partly funded by the State of Minnesota and now being placed in natural food grocery stores. This patent pending machine automatically refills Restore bottles and prints a coupon worth one dollar upon every refill. The development of the machine completes Laurie's vision of making it fun, easy and inexpensive to do the right thing for the environment.
Laurie named her company Restore Products to reflect her deep commitment to keeping the earth beautiful and accessible for future generations to enjoy, just as she has enjoyed it. Her philosophy - that sometimes the best we can do is to do no more harm - is a concept inherent in the word restore, which means "return to its original condition."
Laurie continues to enjoy her love of nature on walks with her dogs, travels and outdoor activities with her friends and family, and cooking and hanging out in Shoreview, Minnesota.
