Japanese Beetle Trap
Protects your flowers, fruits, vegetables and lawns! The Rescue® Japanese Beetle Trap uses a scientifically designed method to control the release of natural floral and sex attractants to lure both male and female beetles to the trap. Once attracted, the beetles fly into the large yellow panels and are stunned on impact; they then fall into the attached bag.
Placement:
Place traps at least 30 feet from ornamental plants, to lure beetles away from the area where they are causing damage.
Feeding Characteristics:
Odor is the most important factor in beetle's selection of plants on which to feed. (Example: fermenting fruit is a favorite.) They prefer infected or damaged plants to healthy ones, and favor plants exposed to direct sunlight. Beetles feed on top foliage, regardless of height, and work downward.
Helpful Hints:
Japanese beetles are most active on warm, sunny days between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Beetles emerge at temperatures above 70 degrees, but prefer 85-95 degrees. Humidity at 60% or above retards flying and induces heavy feeding. Beetles will not fly on cool, windy, cloudy or rainy days. They are responsive to light changes, seeking shelter when clouds pass over.
