Professional Growing Mix. Sunshine #1 is a versatile formulation that expert growers choose for the production of a wide variety of crops. The professionally formulated growing mix is highly recommended for cuttings, bedding and vegetable plants, hanging baskets, container crops and seed germination.
All Sunshine Mixes contain Dolomitic limestone to adjust media pH to 5.0-7.0 and to provide calcium and magnesium. Gypsum is added as a source of sulfur and calcium. In addition, Mix #1 and Mix #4 have highly soluble nutrient charges equivalent to about one liquid feeding with a complete fertilizer, plus trace elements at a normal rate.
Ingredients: Canadian sphagnum peat moss, coarse grade perlite, gypsum, dolomitic lime and Sun Gro’s long-lasting wetting agent.
Grower’s Tip:
Since nutrients leach out after a few waterings, it is recommended that you start a fertilizer program soon after potting. The fertilizer should have an appropriate balance of NPK and adequate levels of trace elements for use with a peat-based mix.

While this is super quality potting soil, it's hard to find. While it's common for commercial greenhouse use here in the Pacific northwest, in most retail outlets, it's as rare as a warm sunny day in Seattle in November. Still….if ya can find this stuff buy as many of those big bales as you can shove in your ride. It may be awhile before you find them again.

I use this mix as a integral part of my total soil mix, I like to add a small amount of perlite and compost to this mix, and I have the happiest plants in the world.
