We purchased our first Soil Saver Composter several years ago and now have THREE of them. They work great at turning all of our fruit and veggie scraps, coffee grounds, yard waste…even leaves into quality compost. Our entire family is very excited about composting. It's been a great lesson for our family.

I have used one of these for just under 20 years, and it has held up well. It is made of sturdy plastic, and the lid fits snugly if you set it up on a level surface. I did have trouble with my dog digging under the bottom, but I solved this by placing it on a plywood base, and surrounding it with cinder blocks. I have used this in my garage during our 6-month winters, and it has kept up with our family's kitchen waste well. Just needs to be turned now and then, and it helps to add a little water, leaves and/or soil. When I use it outside in the winter, it composts for awhile, and then freezes solid for about 5 months, and we run out of room in it before spring thaw. (For a smaller family with fewer small kids wasting food, it would last the whole winter.) In the summer it works great, has moved locations a few times over the years, and keeps the rain out so that it doesn't get waterlogged. Overall, I have been pleased with this bin's durability and usefulness.
