A wonderful English heirloom that produces stems that are greenish-red and can be harvested in its first year. Glaskins Perpetual Rhubarb has an extra fine flavor and is bitter-free, making it great for pies and other desserts.
Planting Instructions:
Soak seeds in water for several hours before planting. Plant in small pots, covering with potting soil no more than 1/2 inch. Germinates within 1-2 weeks at room temperature. Set plants outside after last frost. Very rich soil with lots of organic matter suits rhubarb. Allow some afternoon shade in hot summer areas. A light cutting is possible the second season if plants are healthy; never cut leaves once the stems have become spindly. Mulch to protect plants in cold-winter areas.
