The Ice Box is a water-cooled heat exchanger that can be used to cool the hot air generated by grow lights. With this system, you can do away with ducting and keep everything but the water chiller inside the room. No longer will you be at the mercy of outdoor temperatures.
Hydro Innovations Ice Boxes can be used simply for controlling heat from your lights or for replacing your air conditioner altogether — either way you will see a significant drop in your cooling energy requirements. Chillers are typically twice as efficient as air conditioners simply because water can absorb heat 20 times faster than air.
For efficient use, you will need a high quality water chiller (appropriate size per 1000 watts: 1/4 HP minimum, 1/3 HP optimal), a 30 to 50-gallon reservoir, a properly sized pump (300-500 GPH with 8 to 10-feet of lift/ head pressure), Ice Boxes for each of your reflectors, quality 1/2″ tubing and miscellaneous plumbing parts.

For optimum performance, installation must be on the exiting air duct flange, not the incoming air!
