We were using an old plastic garbage can before we purchased the Garden Gourmet Composter and this beats "the can" hands down! Assembly was not difficult, once we figured the instructions out, and the composter appears to be working as advertised. I did place some wire screen across the open bottom to deter rodents but allow worms to access the pile.

I have been a vermi composter,and hot composter for 30 years, This little rig is one of the only commercial composters I have ever had that works well and held up for years mice can get in,I had to re design the lid not to let in copious water but other than that,its been great for years.I like it better for worms than hot. two narrow for turning vigorously
