Planting and Growing Tips:
Native to South America, this fragrant flower thrives in locations with full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. Sow indoors under lights 6- to 8-weeks before the last frost date of spring or direct sow outdoors — just below the surface — after temperatures have warmed. Thin seedlings 15- to 20-inches apart and mulch to prevent weeds, keep soil temperatures cool and conserve moisture.
Once established, plants are relatively easy to grow and do well in many locations. Deadhead or pinch off faded flowers to promote additional blooms. Taller varieties may need staking in windy areas.
