An heirloom variety bred for overwintering. Purple Sprouting Broccoli (Brassica oleracea) grows slowly over the winter months and produces ample amounts of lavender colored sprouts in the spring. Extremely cold hardy, easy to grow and tasty. (58-90 days)
Each packet contains approximately 300 seeds.
Planting and Harvesting Tips:
This cool season annual requires full sun and regular water. It grows best in loose, fast draining and fertile soils. Start indoors 4-6 weeks prior to desired transplanting date. Seedlings may be set out two weeks before the last frost. Space 15-18 inches apart, allowing at least 2 feet between rows.
The edible portion of the plant is the flower which is harvested before it actually blooms. Cut just below the point where the stems begin to separate. After harvesting the main flower head, side shoots will develop with smaller heads.
