I'm new to gardening, and since I've started this amazing hobby a couple months ago my knowledge on plants has grown a ton!

I have a question for any of y'all that are savvy in the ways of botany.

Is there a difference in the way people choose to germinate seeds?

I've seen so many methods such as peat cubes, direct soil planting, paper towel method, toothpick(s) and water.

I guess a good question would also be, what is germination? If I could just understand the reason why people germinate the way they do mayhap I can have a better understanding of what my plant babies need.
